Sweat and oil, or sebum! It’s slightly acidic ranging from 4.5-6.3.
What it does:
Protects the skin from viruses, bacteria and other contaminants that may penetrate the skin. Without the barrier, harmful bacteria and fungi can grow on the skin’s outer layer.
How to keep your moisture barrier healthy:

Don’t use products with high HP levels.
High PH levels in soaps can harm your acid mantle. A change in acidity can make your skin prone to infection and surface damage along with things like acne. Instead use products that contain clean oils like jojoba oil and sunflower oil. -
Avoid skincare products with essential oils or synthetic fragrances.
Eucalyptus, peppermint, and spearmint essential oils are especially known to cause irritation. We recommend using fragrance-free products. Our current product lineup has zero added essentials oils or fragrances – just the natural scent of the oils we use. -
Cleanse gently!
Harsh scrubs and foaming cleansers can strip away the moisture barrier leaving your face feeling dry and tight (Yes, this means limit your exfoliators). Focus on ingredients such as Jojoba and rosehip seed oil to replenishes the skin’s natural moisture barrier and leaves skin hydrated balanced, clear and even toned. - Don’t Skip on the SPF! No surprise here! The sun is a violent enemy to your skin’s moisture barrier. Protect your skin from UV rays and use an SPF that fits your lifestyle.
